Fabienne Verdier is a Paris based artist. She creates huge paintings done with unconventionally large tools. The brushes she paints with, are made from substances like sheep hair, duck down, horse hair and some times the are up to 6 feet long and over 150 pounds.
Obviously she cannot carry or even lift up these brushes by herself, so they are suspended with a rope and then she can move them around on canvas.
Her painting is vertical, playing with gravity, the weight of the paintbrush, the load of the ink and her body. Suspended between heaven and earth, the paintbrush is guided by spirit and hand, its handle at times hanging from over 10 meters of rope and held in place by a pair of bicycle handlebars. via Fabienne Verdier
Another interesting action the artist does is setting her paintings on fire. She says that when spirit leaves a painting, it will forever remain imperfect. Dead works are set to fire outside the studio.
